Mr. Cherry founded and is the ac5ve manager of a diversified por;olio of owned and fee based
assets in private and public investments in real estate and corporate securi5es through The
Cherry Family Office (CFO) and its affiliated companies. His 36 years of investment experience as
a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in advising and inves5ng in every part of the capital
structure from senior secured debt through public and private equity and during every part of
the corporate life cycle informs his crea5ve solu5on-based approach to solving for and inves5ng
in a specific real estate project or corpora5on’s financial needs. In 2011, Mr. Cherry co-founded
and is a Managing Member of MCMG Management LLC, a private equity mul5family real estate
investment and property management company based in Pompano Beach, FL. While
mul5family rental proper5es generally offer the best risk/reward in the real estate sector,
MCMG believes that managing both its investments and its ac5ve property opera5ons directly
differen5ates us and generates superior returns for us and our co-investors. MCMG owns
and/or manages a private por;olio totaling 528 units and its 10 employees, including two condo
owner associa5ons in southeast Florida worth over $105mln.
Mr. Cherry re5red a\er 27 years as a senior Managing Director in ins5tu5onal high
yield/distressed sales and as an investment analyst in Leveraged Finance primarily at Merrill
Lynch/Credit Suisse/Bear Stearns/JP Morgan/Jefferies from 1988-2015. His responsibili5es were
managing these firms’ rela5onships and advising some of the world’s largest investment and
hedge fund en55es including Blackrock, Pruden5al, Columbia, Putnam, Federated,
Northwestern Mutual, Goldman Sachs Special Situa5ons, Paulson, Marathon, Stonehill and
many others totaling over $200bln in AUM in dedicated high yield/distressed strategies. Mr.
Cherry was a trusted advisor to these clients adding value by being a CFA and by focusing on
their investment needs and matching them with a solu5ons based approach for high yield
corporate issuer’s financing needs in the primary markets and genera5ng liquidity in secondary
markets totaling over $10bln in annual trading volume.
CFO and its affiliates also contribute to and make grants from the The Cherry Family Charitable
Fund. The fund primarily supports preserving natural environmental habitats, and reducing
human suffering. Mr. Cherry graduated from Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business
with a BSM in Finance in 1988. He earned the CFA designa5on in 1992 from the Ins5tute of
Chartered Financial Analysts.
